Add colour to your patio

Here's a simple way to add colour to your patio and recycle. Grab a couple of cans of Rust-Oleum 2X spray paint in bold colours.

Summer's blooms might be gone, but these colourful can luminaries are perfect for adding a bold splash of colour to your patio during the winter months.

 

 

Making can luminaries is a great way to recycle your aluminium cans. Draw out a design on a piece of graph paper and then tape this onto your cans to make it easier to transfer the design.

 

 

 

 

Clamp the can to your workbench to prevent is from moving around and then use a hammer and thin nail to dent the can. The dents will make it sooooo much easier to drill the holes.

 

 

GOOD TO KNOW

If you aren't going to be using a drill for the holes, you can make the holes with a hammer and nail.

 

 

 

 

Use a 2mm or 2.5mm HSS bit to drill holes into the dents. The dents actually prevent the drill bit from sliding around.

 

 

 

 

Finish off your tin can luminaries with Rust-Oleum 2X in your fave colour. There are so many colour variations to choose from and you can select colours that complement your entertainment area or patio.
