Unblock a kitchen sink waste pipe.

There are a few different types of waste traps. The most common are the 'S', 'P' and 'shower' trap. They all use very similar methods and can be disconnected by removing the large nuts to release the traps.

The trap we will be using is the 'S' trap.

1. Place a large bucket underneath the trap to catch any discharge.

2. Unscrew the nuts. You can use a large wrench if these nuts are extremely hard to unscrew.

3. Remove the trap from the sink waste and the adjoining section and clear the blockage into the bucket.

4. Make sure that the rubber washers are in place before you reconnect the trap back into position.

5. Once everything is tightly fastened, turn on the water tap and check to see that there is no water leaking around the joins.
