Make a Vintage Cutting Board
This beautiful, vintage cutting board can be made from reclaimed wood, hardwood offcuts, or pine from your local Builders.
Cami over at Tidbits features a post where her husband turns an old piece of wood into a beautiful, vintage cutting board. Make your own vintage cutting board using reclaimed wood or PAR pine following the steps below. With the aid of Woodoc Gel Stain you can easily make new pine look like aged wood.
Start by drawing out the shape that you want for your vintage cutting board and then use a scroll saw or jigsaw to cut this out.
After cutting, use a router or sander to round off the edges.
Sand the entire board with 120- and then 240-grit sandpaper and wipe clean.
Finish off your vintage cutting board with Howard's Butcher Block and Cutting Board Oil. You can buy this from www.hardwarecentre.co.za or www.tools4wood.co.za. Or get in touch with www.vermontsales.co.za to find your nearest retail stockist.
