Add art deco detailing with stencils
Stencils are great for using to add detail to walls. In this project cool style web shows how an art deco themed stencil design was added to a hallway to dress up a plain wall.
YOU WILL NEED:
Stencil brush or small foam roller
Acrylic paint
Paper towels
Steel rule
Masking tape
Small stepladder
Stencil - see below
Print this out and enlarge to the size you require and then follow our instructions for making your own stencil.
HERE'S HOW:
Step 1
Determine the best layout for the design before you start. The best place to start stencilling is in a top corner.
Step 2
Use masking tape to position the stencil across the wall as you work.
Step 3
Dip the stencil brush into your paint tray and then dab off onto a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will result in runs underneath the stencil. It is far better to have too little paint and add more as you go along.
Step 4
As you reach the bottom of the wall the design will be cut off, but that's OK. It's not as obvious as cutting off at the top of the wall.
