Forget red this Valentine’s Day! This February we’re loving dreamy, optimistic Nutmeg Dust (O3-C2-2). Not normally the go-to colour for the month of love, this soft nude with pink touches is the ideal neutral providing the perfect canvas for an irresistibly Instagrammable space filled with glamour and romance.
Colour expert Claire Bond describes this adaptable colour which is part of Plascon’s Colour Forecast 2019: “Nutmeg Dust is a warm contented colour that exudes a soft sensuality. Modern and versatile, it’s ideal for infusing some romantic elegance into your space this Valentine’s Day whether it’s your bedroom or your whole house.”
How to use Nutmeg Dust in your space
Nutmeg Dust is part of the Forecast’s Glamour colour story and is accompanied by a several other uplifting and bold hues handpicked to take the guess work out of painting your space. For beautiful, considered and shareable spaces, this summery palette is your first port of call. Claire suggests combining Nutmeg Dust with feel-good modern pastels such as Candy Tuft (P3-B2-1) and jewel-like Mermaid Jewel (G7-B1-3) to create an air of lavishness and richness.
With soft pink undertones and a drop of orange, Nutmeg Dust is also optimistic and versatile. “Teaming it up with pastels and metallics introduces a subtle feminine appeal while pairing it with deep purples like Phantom Night (P1-E1-2) evokes a strong sensuality that is perfect for a beautifully glamourous bedroom. In contrast, partnering it with Black Bean (71) would lend a masculine edge in a guy’s space and this combination would also work well for a couple.”
As Nutmeg Dust works well as a neutral, it could also be used on a home’s exterior with the front door painted in Groovy Grape (R1-B1-1) to make a bold on-trend statement, boost kerb appeal and convey a warm, welcoming message for friends, visitors or just yourself. Using a premium paint product with a plush matt finish like Cashmere will complete the elegant transformation.
Claire sums it up: “Trendy and versatile, soft nude tones are wonderful for making an elegant statement in a home. Uplifting colours like Nutmeg Dust will always have you looking on the bright side whether you have a date this Valentine’s or not.”
