Since posting the articles for using battery-operated LED lights with remote control for various lighting projects in the home, as shown in 'DIY Wireless, Battery Operated LED Down Lighters' and 'DIY Battery Operated LED Light Fitting with Remote Control', I have received so many requests for more information on this topic and here it is.
There is nothing I like better than popping into my local Builders store to see what's new. Technology is advancing so fast that it is hard to keep up with new items being introduced to the market and I find that a trip or two every month will keep me up to date of new items. If I don't have time to pop into the store, I make use of the Builders website for online browser shopping. One item that caught my interest was the remote control battery-operated LED lights.
Up until now, most battery-operated LED lights need to be manually switched on and off, so I was pleased to see that you can now get these with a remote control as this means that you can mount them almost anywhere - without any wires or electrical points needed. That means they are great for places where there is no electrical supply - and even great for rental properties since you do not need to damage walls to fit lights.
Wall-mounted spotlights for open shelves
Kristi at chatfieldcourt.com made wall-mounted spotlights for her kitchen using battery-operated LED lights with wireless remote control and a modern spotlight fitting. The spotlight fitting can be mounted onto any wall to light up any feature without having to drill into walls and the fitting can be secured with heavy-duty double-sided tape. Alternatively, you can use a hot glue gun and glue sticks to fasten the light fitting onto the wall. Use either of these to secure the LED lights into the light fitting.
Wall lights to highlight art or picture gallery
Anne and AnnaMarie at simply2moms.com used spotlight fittings to highlight a wall gallery. Lighting this area can be a problem for anyone wanting to install artwork or a wall gallery or photos or images and being able to simply peel and stick light fittings onto the wall with double-sided tape, as well as use remote controlled and battery-operated LED lights, makes it so easy to add lighting where you need it.
LED lights for awkward spaces
In areas where having wiring and lights installed would otherwise be impossible, using remote controller battery-operated LED lights in your choice of fitting makes it an easy project for any area in the home. Jenna at lanternlanedesigns.com installed a pair of brass spotlights in her entrance hall. The wall that runs up the side of the staircase is not the type of wall where you could have an electrician chase out for electrical wiring but who needs wires when you can use wireless lamps with remote control!
Other uses for battery-operated LED lights
There are many other uses for battery-operated LED lights operated by a remote control. Install these in dark areas such as passage where no natural light is available and there is no opportunity to install additional wiring for lights. Use battery-operated lights up along a staircase to prevent accidents during load shedding. You can even install them in walk-in closets, cupboards or other areas that need light.
