Benefits of installing a Ceiling Fan
Not just a great way to cool down a room, ceiling fans are an eco-friendly alternative to an air conditioner and can also be used to illuminate a space.

For many years I have had ceiling fans in my home to cool down rooms and also circulate air throughout the spaces. I also have a ceiling fan installed in my bedroom, and find this invaluable when the 'hot flashes' come on unexpectedly. While these are just a couple of advantages of installing a ceiling fan, there are many other benefits to installing a ceiling fan in your home.
More energy efficient
Running on the same amount of power per hour as that of a conventional lightbulb, ceiling fans offer and energy efficient way to keep a room cool. That means you don't have to worry about your carbon footprint, or feel guilty if you want to leave the fan on overnight in your bedroom.
If your patio or garden room gets hot during the summer months, or you need to add air circulation, a ceiling fan consumes far less energy when compared to an air conditioner. And if you buy a ceiling fan with reverse function, you can also use it to keep these spaces warmer and more comfortable during the colder months.
Ceiling fans that operate in reverse-mode help to warm up a room without the need to switch on a heater. We all know that hot air rises, and putting your ceiling fan on reverse pushes warmed air near the ceiling back down into the room.
Light up the room
Because ceiling fans are available in models with built-in lights, installing a ceiling fan with an integral light fitting also lets you add central lighting to a room. Adding this type of illumination lets you layer light in a room to set the mood and you can choose between warm or cool lighting globes to warm up in winter or cool down in summer.
Simple installation
Ceiling fans can be installed in any room, both standard and high-ceiling. Shop for a fan that has longer and more blades for effective heating and cooling in a larger space. To install a ceiling fan, remove an existing light fitting and connect the ceiling fan wires to the correct junctions. It's as easy as that!
Add function and style
With so many designs to choose from, you can
select the perfect ceiling fan for a room. You
can purchase ceiling fans with wooden blades,
stainless steel blades, or painted blades, to
match your existing room decor.
An added benefit of installing a ceiling fan is that they help to repel mosquitoes, which is great for a bedroom. A ceiling fan will also keep flies at bay, which is why they are ideal for a patio or garden room.
Last, but not least
I find that the ceiling fan in my bedroom helps me sleep peacefully, The gentle air flow and low-level noise that a fan creates helps block out nuisance sounds from a busy street - or from noisy neighbours.
