Trim plain rugs with fabric trim

A trend that is popping up is natural fibre rugs with an added fabric trim border. This is a great way to transform a plain - and affordable - rug into a feature and tie in your existing room decor at the same time.

The easiest way to added fabric trim to a rug border is to use iron-on webbing, as there is no way you would be able to use a sewing machine on a thick, natural fibre rug, and hand-sewing would take waaaay too long. So, measure and cut out the pieces that you need to make the border for your rug and then sew these together in advance on your sewing machine, before using iron-on webbing to then attach to your rug.

 

 

I think that added a fabric border just adds that extra finishing touch to a plain, natural fibre rug and gives it an extra bit of pizzazz.
