Miles Redd - Designer extraordinaire
Miles Redd is known for his quirky brand of cosy glamour. His unique aesthetic vision is characterized by playful mélanges of high and low, invigorated with whimsical splashes of colour and modern gestures.
As the creative director of Oscar de la Renta Home, a decorator with a passionate following, and the author of the lavish coffee-table tome The Big Book of Chic, Miles Redd clearly knows a thing or two about style. But even those familiar with his oeuvre will be startled by the showstopping Bahamas beach home he outfitted for an adventurous couple with two young daughters. The residence is an object lesson in how to marshal colour and pattern to ecstatic, beguiling effect.
The existing structure, just over a decade old, was "solid and beautifully detailed," Redd says, "but covered in beige and grass cloth." Beige, of course, is like Kryptonite to Redd, and he decided to recast the house along more colourful, theatrical lines. Architectural Digest
