Take into consideration the curtains or drapes that you already have, or that you want to buy. It is important to select the correct size. Choose a thickness not only for aesthetics, but also for proper support. Heavy curtains may influence the type of rod that you will buy. For the length of your curtain pole / rod, measure 10cm to 20cm beyond the frame of the window.

If purchasing ready made rods/poles, ensure to buy rather a size too big, than a size too small.
