Decorative picture frames
In this project we make the picture frames themselves a feature by covering them with art paper. You can substitute this with handmade paper, scrapbooking paper, or even wallpaper.
In this project we make the picture frames themselves a feature by covering them with art paper. You can substitute this with handmade paper, scrapbooking paper, or even wallpaper.
YOU WILL NEED:
Picture frames (or make your own)
Art paper, handmade paper, scrapbooking paper or wallpaper
Sprayable adhesive
Craft knife
Steel ruler or straightedge
HERE'S HOW:
1. Place the art paper face down on newspaper or paper to protect your work surface. Spray the frame back and edge, and the paper, with sprayable adhesive and then lay the frame down on the paper. The adhesive bonds instantly, so take care not to wrinkle the paper.
2. Place a steel ruler or straightedge along the edge of each side and use a craft knife to cut off the excess paper and create the flaps that can be folded over the edges. Cut a slit at each corner aligned with the inside edge of the ruler or straightedge.
3. Apply a fresh coat of adhesive to the edges and wrap these. Start with the flaps and then overlap the flaps on the overlapping edge.
4. On the front of the frame use the craft knife to cut and 'X' in the paper. Hold the side of the blade against the frame to trim off the waste.
