Up in Gauteng, and many other areas around the country, the recycling process is taking much longer than it should to bring about. In the meantime, here are some fun ways to upcycle glass bottles, jars and containers into home decor, at little or no cost.

Why waste money buying small containers of spice when you can recycle glass jars as spice containers. Use a stencil and glass etch or Rust-Oleum Frosted Glass spray to add labelling.

If you prefer your decor bright and bold, try upcyclng glass bottles into these Moroccan creations. Paint the inside of the bottles with glass paint and then add gold leading or puff paint on the outside of the jars for detail.
Save the top from a plastic soap dispenser bottle and transfer this onto a Mason jar. Looks much nicer. You can use a hole saw and drill/driver to drill out the hole, and fill in any gaps with acrylic sealer. I also found this post that shows how to mount a dispenser onto the jar without using glue.
