Stylish pallet bench
Use reclaimed wood pallets to make this stylish garden bench in an hour or two, and provide easy and inexpensive seating for a garden or entertainment area.
This garden bench is super easy to make and won't cost you much if you make it using reclaimed wood pallets. The wood slats sit on top of a pair of planters filled with ornamental olive trees.
YOU WILL NEED:
Pallet
Saw to cut
Multi-sander and 80- + 120-grit sandpaper
Prominent Paints Select wood primer
Prominent Paints Select gloss enamel in 2 colours
Paintbrush
Potted plants, shrubs or ornamental trees (in pots large enough to support the bench top)
Buy everything you need for this project at your local Builders Warehouse.
HERE'S HOW:
1. Split the pallet into usable sections. This should leave you with two sections of even planks.
2. Sand with 80-grit sandpaper to remove rough finish and then sand with 120-grit sandpaper to smooth.
3. Apply an even coat of wood primer and let this dry completely before applying 1 or 2 coats of gloss enamel colour. Let each coat dry as per the recommended drying time before applying the next coat.
GOOD TO KNOW: The wood primer bonds with and seals the surface of the timber in preparation for painting.
4. Slip the centre of the two sections around the trunk of the shrub or ornamental tree so that the planks are firmly seated on the top.
