In this project we show you how easy it is to add decoration to a plain pine table with mosaic tile sheets. Using this method you can cover any table with mosaic tile to add a practical covering that is decorative and provides a durable countertop. You will find a selection of mosaic tile sheets at your nearest Builders Warehouse and they come in assorted colours.
Before you begin, prepare the pine table by applying a coat of wood dealer. This step is important as it provides a fairly waterproof surface on which to apply the adhesive and grout.
YOU WILL NEED:
Mosaic tile sheets
Mosaic tile adhesive
Mosaic tile grout
Notched trowel
Rubber spatula
Sponges and rags
Bucket for clean water
HERE'S HOW:
1. Before laying the tiles on the table top, determine the layout for the tiles so that you know how this will fit onto the surface. Apply a layer of tile adhesive over the top and edges of the table with a notched trowel.
2. Start to bed the mosaic tiles in the mosaic, cutting the sheets to size to fit nicely on the table top. You can cut the mosaic sheets to fit using a pair of sharp scissors or a utility knife.

3. Allow the adhesive to set overnight before spreading the tile grout over the surface of the tiles. We used a rubber spatula that allows us to get into the gaps between the tiles. Make sure that you fill all gaps.
4. Let the grout dry for about an hour and then wipe with a damp sponge to clean the surface of the tiles and remove excess grout. Repeat until the surface is completely cleaned. To finish off your new mosaic table top, apply grout sealer as recommended by the manufacturer.
