Decoupage on furniture

Decoupage has been around for a long time, but every now and them it tends to disappear and occasionally pops up again. This craft is actually a wonderfully easy way to dress up a variety of items, including furniture, and allows you to apply scraps of fabric or paper to introduce wonderful designs.
Decoupage is the art of decorating objects with paper cut-outs, but can also include fabric cut-outs as well. For this project, an interesting pattern was cut from a scrap of fabric and applied to the back of a chair.
How to decoupage:
1. You will need to select an interesting pattern or design to add to your chosen piece of furniture and carefully cut this out.
2. Apply a liberal layer of ModPodge or clear acrylic sealer to the back of the fabric.
3. Have a small sponge handy to help rub over the fabric scrap and press onto the surface of the chair. You want to remove all trapped air bubbles and wrinkles. Leave to dry for a couple of hours.
4. Use a paintbrush or sponge applicator to apply several layers of ModPodge or clear acrylic sealer over the top of the fabric, as well as onto the chair. This way you won't notice the difference once everything dries.
