Fresh Spring looks for a bedroom
If you are starting to find your bedroom a bit boring or bland, take a look at how one bedroom is transformed with fabrics, furniture and accessories.
With spring already in the air it's time to think about refreshing your home. One room in particular is a place for relaxation, and we want this room to feel inviting, light, open, and carefree. with this in mind we put together three pretty bedroom spaces that capture that casual, chic spring vibe.
Bedrooms are the perfect space for a neutral colour palette that is calm and relaxing without being boring. In this bedroom, all the larger elements are neutral, but they all have something special about them. For the bedding an African-inspired pattern is taken up a notch with a metallic gold finish for a fresh, unexpected, and super sophisticated look.
If your bed doesn't already have a headboard, we offer plenty of ideas and step-by-step projects to make your own headboard, be it a plain wooden or upholstered headboard.
The transparent acrylic bedside table almost appears invisible and works towards a bedroom that feel uncluttered. Transparent acrylic is an unexpected choice for a bedroom, but it makes the space feel super chic and fun, despite being mostly neutral.
The woven flax rug adds plenty of texture and gives the room a coastal touch and ties in with the colour hues used in the curtains and fabrics.
A pair of upholstered ottomans with sandy elephant print fabric complete the look. If you are handy with tools, making an upholstered storage ottoman for a bedroom shouldn't take you more than an hour to complete, and you can shop around for the best fabrics for the room setting.
Introduce a splash of colour into a neutral bedroom with small accessories. You don’t have to commit since you’re only using a few cushions, and it gives you the freedom to take some risks!
In the second option, and for a slightly more bold take, indigo accents were incorporated with dark blue patterned bed linen and decor accessories. Paired with sandy neutrals the room pops with cool colour.
The restored vintage bedside table is given a marble top to add a level of sophistication to the piece. We like this one because there is a drawer for closed storage, and plenty of surface area on top for all your bedroom essentials.
Framed cross sections of blued-hued agate create a picture gallery above the bed and tie all the blue accents together. We love the way these sliced pieces stand out from the backing, creating texture and dimension.
The last design features simplicity at its best. Bedding in a happy yellow hue is mixed with luxuriously soft white linen duvet and shams and give the room a relaxing country feel.
In a small bedroom, consider using an upholstered ottoman or bench at the foot of the bed. This bench with its rounded form is easier to walk around, and even though it’s a small difference in size, it makes a big difference in the flow of the room.
As the main piece in any bedroom, we believe in putting something bold over a headboard to create a focal point in the room. These rope, burlap and wire accents are easy enough to make and are the perfect accent for this sunny bedroom.
