Add a painted border to wood or laminate floors
Give a plain bathroom floor a new focus with a painted border.
Make a real statement with a wide border, or keep it narrow and subtle for a less dramatic look.
YOU WILL NEED:
Tape measure and pencil
Masking tape
2.5cm paintbrush
Floor paint
HERE'S HOW:
Step 1
First decide on the width of your border. Using a tape measure and pencil, measure 10cm away from the wall and make a small pencil mark on the floor. Continue doing this around the entire room every 20cm or so, then use masking tape to join up the pencil marks. Press the masking tape down firmly to ensure that paint cannot seep beneath it.
Step 2
Measure from the edge of the masking tape towards you and use the pencil to mark the width of your desired border. Continue around the room measuring and marking every 20cm or so. Join up the marks with masking tape as before.
Step 3
Using a 2.5cm paintbrush, start to apply a coat of floor paint in your chosen colour between the two lines of masking tape, carefully brushing towards the centre of the two strips of tape to stop the paint seeping beneath the tape.
Step 4
Leave to dry and apply a second coat of paint if necessary. Very carefully peel away the masking tape.
