Frame a bathroom mirror
Make a dramatic impact in a bathroom simply by framing the mirror. In this project by Sausha of Show and Tell, 200mm high skirting and dado rail has been used and then painted black to match the existing bathroom cabinets. What a difference!
While the mirror helped to add light and create the illusion of space in the bathroom, it lacked 'wow' factor. The bathroom vanity is finished in black with a distressed finish and the master bedroom (as can be seen in the mirror) is finished in black wood. So... let's add a black mirror frame!
You will need to use a mitre saw to cut the 45-degree corner angles. If you don't have a mitre saw and soooo want to make this frame, use newspaper or brown paper to make a template around the frame and mark how the corners need to be cut and then transfer this to the skirtings and dado rail for cutting with a hand saw.
Apply a bead of No More Nails adhesive to the top and bottom of the skirtings and the dado rails, but not too close to the edge as it will squirt out and make a mess. Press firmly against the wall. No More Nails is an instant tack formula which allows it to stick nicely to the wall until the glue dries. If there is any excess around the edges, wipe away quickly with your finger or a clean cloth.
Then I gave everything a light sanding and painted it black. Of course I distressed the whole thing with my 60-grit sanding block. Some people may find it easier to paint it first and then hang - not me! I want it up NOW to see what it looks like and then finish up with the details :)
