Parents raising children in an increasingly technological and digital world are faced with the same dilemma: are children's online games beneficial or harmful? Can kids play online on Game Karma? What should you be concerned about if you let your son or daughter play video games? In fact, such games still have advantages.
In the world we live in, the education offered by the vast majority of schools teaches many basics: mathematics, geography, history, and physics, but it does not give children the necessary knowledge and skills to solve complex problems that arise daily at work, in social relationships, or even at home, for example, when managing accounts.
Training and life experience
In this sense, computers and their by-product, online games, allow us to present powerful simulations of the real world in a playful and accessible way, teaching us to perform actions that we otherwise would not have access to.
Creativity
Who could design an entire furnished house without studying architecture and understanding complex programs if not in games like The Sims? Technology has changed what it means to know something and be able to do something. The educational potential is undeniable.
Curiosity
There are games, such as Assassin's Creed, that are directly related to the knowledge gained in school, for example, in the field of history. Despite the game's violent aspect, recent releases include a Discovery mode that turns the experience into a peaceful excursion. In addition, it uses incredible visual and sound effects that modern technology allows.
The danger of games for children
However, video games can also lead to some setbacks in children's lives. By far the biggest controversy surrounding them is the issue of violence as many games are based on character fights, the use of firearms, or even disturbing scenes.
Researchers concluded that online games per se are not the cause of violence and armed incidents in schools, but it would also be naive to claim that games have absolutely nothing to do with incitement to violence.
When your child is playing, pay attention to:
· Time. Based on it, you can determine whether your child has acquired a computer addiction or not. If every day, running back from school, he/she immediately sits down at the computer, it is worth explaining to the child that more time should be devoted to other more useful activities. At the same time, there is nothing wrong if a boy or girl plays their favorite computer game for half an hour on a computer or tablet, which is popular these days.
· Emotions. Short-term surprises and disappointments are harmless enough. However, if such emotions stretch for several hours or days, or they simply overflow, this is already a serious problem.
· Relations with the outside world. Very
often, a child is so keen on online games that
he/she is no longer interested in the real world
and the things that happen in it since all the
attention is tuned to the game.
There are
many online games, and not all of them have a
negative impact. Make sure that the child plays
educational games.
