Australia is a name that refers to both a continent and a country. It is called the “land down under” because of its location in the southern hemisphere. Each of its large cities boasts of famous attractions such as the Bondi Beach in Sydney, the Federation Square in Melbourne and the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary of Brisbane. These are just a few of the many attractions that await every person who plans to migrate to Australia.
Luckily, there is a lot more to expect when you migrate to this country. Some of these are the following:
The Weather Is Not the Same All Over the Country
Australia will usually have temperate weather most days of the year. However, the people at Australian migration agencies will most likely tell you that climate may also vary from east to west and north to south given the fact that this country is so huge. Many people think that the weather in Australia is the same all over. In reality, different parts of the country experience different weather. For example, cities in the Northern part will have wet seasons while those in the southern part will have summer days. If you are planning to migrate to Melbourne you will be surprised to find yourself experiencing four seasons in just one day. If you want more of a sub-tropical climate, come to Sydney. Some people in other cities in Australia enjoy skiing under snowy weather.
Get Used to the Australian Slang
When you’re outdoors and find it hard to sleep you may hear Australians complaining about a mozzie. Well, that’s how they refer to a mosquito so now you know. If you’re in a bar and would want a beer, just say you want “a cold one” or a “coldie”. If you’re looking to go swimming at the beach or in a swimming pool, then you would need to wear “bathers”, that’s what they call it. Feel like you need to go? Then, look for a “dunny”, when you need to use the “toilet”. These are just a few of the many Aussie slang that you should start to familiarize if you are planning to migrate to Australia.
They Have Good Quality Healthcare
One of the best things in Australia is its high-quality healthcare system. It is known to be the best in the world. Its affordable healthcare is being taken care of by all levels of the Australian government. Its high-quality healthcare system is run by its local, territory, federal, and state. Their hospitals not only have highly qualified staff. You can also expect their hospitals to be efficient and well-equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities. You will have access to free healthcare once you have gained permanent residency. You may also have the privilege to use their Medicare if you are from New Zealand and the UK and are visiting Australia only for a short duration.
Moving to Australia should not be done solely because of employment opportunities. Keep in mind that once you get there, you will not only be working. You also need to live and should enjoy what the country can offer. Luckily, Australia offers more than just a better life for immigrants.
