Carrol Boyes expands international footprint with a presence in leading Oz retailer David Jones Limited

Globally renowned homeware
and gifting brand Carrol Boyes, which is sold in
31 countries, has expanded its longstanding
retail presence in the Australian market with a
listing in select stores of top nationwide
retailer David Jones Limited.

Australian customers may now shop for Carrol
Boyes’ distinctive flatware, tableware, giftware
and home accessories at purposefully designed
in-store environments.

well-regarded company with a wide variety of
distinctive top-quality products.”
Currently,
David Jones has 45 stores located in most
Australian territories. David Jones clothing
items are available to South African shoppers
because they are stocked by local Woolworths
stores. Woolworths SA purchased the David Jones
brand in 2014 and select stock has been
available in the stores since 2015.
The David Jones listing is yet another notch in Carrol Boyes’ ever-growing global profile. Worldwide distribution includes listings in prestigious department stores such as Bloomingdales in the USA and Lane Crawford in Hong Kong and China and leading speciality retailers across the United Kingdom, Europe, South America, Pacific, Scandinavia, Australia, New Zealand, Middle East and Africa. Carrol Boyes has enjoyed a presence in Australia for over a decade. Previously the Carrol Boyes brand was only available to Australians via a network of 24 individual gift stores located across Australia (where it will continue to be sold) and the Carrol Boyes e-commerce store www.carrolboyes.com.
The presence in large-scale retailer David Jones marks a turning point as it comes with expanded warehousing in Australia, making Carrol Boyes stock more readily available. “When you set up in a new territory, you need to have peace of mind that your stock is warehoused appropriately and all your orders are going to be delivered,” explains Carrol Boyes Chief Operations Officer, Craig Ludwig.
The new David Jones range includes a number of the characteristic sculptural pieces for which Carrol Boyes is known and loved, the most prominent being the iconic ‘Centrepiece – Backbend’. This 90cm-long piece features Carrol Boyes’ unique style, which characteristically transforms a work of art into an item with infinite uses in the home.
Carrol Boyes launched in David Jones at the end of February 2018 and has experienced an unexpectedly positive response from the market. Approximately 25% of the edited range was sold out within the first three weeks of launch, with positive indications continuing post launch. The Carrol Boyes brand will be expanding into additional David Jones stores before the end of 2018.
Based in South Africa and founded in 1989, Carrol Boyes is the brainchild of local artist-turned-businesswoman Carrol Boyes. The popular brand has been in existence for close on 30 years and is known for a vast range of homeware and gifting items in pewter, aluminum, stainless steel, ceramics, textiles, leather and wood. In May 2018 the company launched its new premium line of luxury chocolates, currently only available in South African stores.
