Laminated pine shelving splits along the seams

Although it's difficult to spot when buying laminated pine, do be aware that I recently bought 8 sheets of laminated pine, and 4 of the sheets have popped open along the seams.

 

If it was just a single sheet of laminated pine that split at the seams, I would probably write this off to sloppy laminating, but when 4 sheets split open along the seams this is more than just sloppy - the entire process has gone wrong somewhere.

The laminated pine sheets are 2400 metres long x 650mm wide and were purchased at my local Builders Warehouse store. I'm definitely not blaming Builders Warehouse, but if you are buying laminated pine sheets you might want to be careful when working with these sheets - or take them back if they do split open.
