Getting help from your family and friends can save your day as together the work will be done quickly and effortlessly. Don’t forget to treat your people to a pizza party in the end.

Disassemble Your Furniture

Disassembling the furniture is a very important task to do before you start loading and storing your stuff into the truck. Furniture items are generally huge and take up a lot of space so disassembling them will not only save space but will also keep them from any possible damage. Make sure you disassemble all the furniture including the dining table, beds, desks, and dressers.

Largest and Heaviest Items First

Now, that you have started loading stuff into the truck, make sure you load and store the heaviest and the largest items first. Items like bed frames, tables, chairs, dressers, washers, dryers, couches, and mattresses should be loaded first. As these items weigh a lot, it makes sense to keep them on the bottom and front of the truck.

Also, make sure that you keep all the heavy items in an upright position as they will take up a lot of space if lied down horizontally. It is wise to place all bed headboards, tables, couches, in a vertical upright position to keep them safe and save space. Make sure to keep some extra padding around these furniture items to save them from any scratches. You can consider using plastic wraps or moving blankets to save the furnishing of delicate material of items like couches and chairs.

Rugs-Roll Them

Rugs add beauty and elegance to our house and keeping them safe during a move is a big responsibility as they catch dust real fast. To save your rugs from damage and dirt, make sure you roll them up and secure them in plastic wraps. Your rugs should be thoroughly cleaned and dried before packing as damped rugs may spread bad odors.

Load Lightest in the Last

Once you are done with heavy items, now is the time to analyze the weight of the remaining items and load them accordingly. After loading the heaviest items, load medium-weight items like kitchen appliances, moving boxes, and smaller furniture pieces followed by lighter items. Make sure you load the lightest items in the end. Also, you should keep lighter items on top of heavier items but make sure you secure them with a moving strap to avoid any tripping or falling.

So basically, all you have to take care of is to distribute the weight of your stuff evenly throughout. Try and fill all the gaps in the truck as these gaps will not only kill the available space but can also damage your stuff due to colliding.
