Anna Pirkola is a Finnish designer and interior stylist whose work is clean, simple and affordably inspired. In the example shown here, a small corner in a room is transformed into a home office space using materials that are readily available and easy to work with - even if you only have a basic tool collection (drill / driver and sander).
If you need a space to set up a small home office, a place to sit and browse the Internet, or even a crafty corner, these basic furniture designs can be so easily replicated.

YOU WILL NEED:
1 of 600 x 1000mm - top
2 of 600 x 680mm - sides
1 of 460 x 956mm - shelf
1 of 400 x 956mm - back panel
HERE'S HOW:
Have all your timber cut to size at your local Builders for easy assembly.
1. Measure and mark the sides 100mm down from the top and use this as a guide for mounting the shelf. To secure the shelf you can use a Biscuit Joiner, Kreg Pockethole Jig, or drill countersunk pilot holes through the sides and secure with 50mm screws.
2. Place the top on the sides. Secure to the sides with 90-degree angle brackets, Biscuit Joiner, Kreg Pockethole Jig, or drill countersunk pilot holes through the top and secure with 50mm screws
3. Secure the back panel to the top and sides with any of the options mentioned above.
4. If using screws to assemble all the pieces, fill holes with wood filler and sand smooth once dry. If you plan on staining the desk, choose a wood filler tint that matches the finished colour.
GOOD TO KNOW: If you prefer to have a desk that can be easily taken apart, don't use wood filler to fill holes, but rather pop on screw caps.
