Beautiful cement-based floors

One of the hardest decisions to make when renovating or building a home is to decide on the most suitable type of flooring. An important part of making this decision is knowing about the pros and cons of different flooring options.

A cement-based floor finish allows you to create a seamless flow from indoors to outdoors, allowing you to extend your indoor living spaces. There are many products that can be applied to the finish that prevent a cement floor from being slippery when used outdoors, especially in close proximity to a swimming pool or jacuzzi. You also have the option to choose a textured finish with various imprinting mats to create a myriad of beautiful finishes including rock, wood, textured tiles and more.

Cement is a naturally durable product with an extremely long life. Cement-based floor products offer the same durability and strength, and while many flooring options might be inexpensive upfront in comparison to decorative cement-based flooring, cement, when properly installed and maintained, will last much longer and eventually give you a better return on investment.

Every homeowners wants flooring that is easy to clean and maintain and looks good. Once installed and finished off with the correct sealer, your new cement-based floor is very easy to clean and maintain; only requiring damp mopping.

Cemcrete are known for manufacturing quality cement-based coatings. For renovations, Cemcrete has created CreteCote, a skim-on floor coating that can be used either on top of your existing tiles or floor slab. The product is a coloured, cement-based coating that produces a 1.5mm smooth finish with subtle mottling for interior surfaces. Once cured, it can be sealed to a matt or gloss finish and polished for further protection and shine.

When building a new house or laying a new screed then Cemcrete's Colour Hardener offers the ideal finish, Colour Hardener is supplied in a dry powder that is sprinkled onto wet, new screeds and wood floated in, essentially becoming part of your floor screed. It is a granolithic concrete material that strengthens and colours concrete floors. Colour Hardener is also an ideal finish for exposed exterior floors or swimming pool surround.

Cement-based flooring offers a variety of colour options and designs that make this type of flooring ideal for any space. With the addition of Cemcrete's CreteStain, you have even more colour options, as well as various sealers to add further effects (gloss, matt, slip-resistance, colour enhancement, etc.).
