Simple ideas for table settings
With the holidays soon upon us, I thought it might be nice to have a feature on simple, yet elegant, table settings that can be laid indoors or outdoors, depending upon the weather. These table settings can easily be achieved with just a few items that you might already have, or can be purchased affordably.
Indoors or outdoors this rustic table setting looks stunning. Bronzed lantern votives placed down the centre of the table provide enough lighting outdoors, or up the ambience indoors. Coir or rope table mats are easy to make and you can shape them any way you want. Add glass vases wrapped with rope and filled with fresh garden flowers.
The elegant table setting below features moss-topiary Christmas trees as an alternative to lanterns, and ambience is added with tapered candles. Don't you just love the paper tablecloth. Old books are recycled to create a wonderfully interesting tablecloth - definitely a conversation piece!

For smaller table settings, and to introduce a splash of colour, think ceramic vases of different sizes. It doesn't even matter if they are chipped or not exactly the same. Once filled with fresh flowers these will instantly revitalise a table.

Don't think that you have to go out and buy new garden furniture just to invite friends round. Even a plain garden bench set can be dressed for outdoor entertaining.
