Plascon palette for 2013

Every year I trudge off to Decorex for the unveiling of the latest colour palette, and every year I am awed by the colour combinations. This year was no different, but I am nicely surprised to find out my new decorating scheme ties in perfectly with the 'Dare' palette.

PAUSE

These soft washes of colour look beautiful on walls. This palette of pastels is calming and uplifting and can be easily introduced to a scheme, as they work well with neutrals and greys.

DARE

Do you 'Dare' to add a splash of colour? You have to love the freshness of combining soft, pale blues with splashes of tangerine. In this coastal style living space designed by Tracery, the emphasis is on relaxation and comfort and the colours do just that.

I took a daring step when I designed and painted the console table in my entrance hallway. The bold, bright red - hot 'n spicy - heightens the senses and prepares you for more colour shock - my pale teal - shady - dining room feature wall. What a nice surprise to see that the Plascon 2013 colour palette features these two colour combinations.

You will find step-by-step instructions to make the console table in the latest issue of Easy DIY magazine and the colour is Gloss Apple Red by Rust-Oleum.

CONTRAST

A cacophany of colour that comes together to create a symphony of contrasts, the Contrast palette can be retro or sophisticated.
