A home with all-round expansive views

Petersen / Keller Architects designed a modern home to encompass the surrounding environment. Expansive windows in every room throughout the house allow the homeovers to take advantage of the view from almost every direction.

 

The homeowners specifically wanted a modern home to take advantage of the surrounding landscape, which includes a lake and surrounding woods. Taking into consideration the sloped angle, the multi-level house provides for dramatic views all round at different levels. The property features a second floor bridge that naturally creates a view frame even before setting foot in the house. The bridge leads from the children’s rooms to the master suite.

 

 

The design encompasses organic wood finishes from the exterior to the interior, creating a muted and warm modern colour palette.

Crisp white walls enhance the rooms and contrast sharply with black-framed windows and frames that highlight the exterior view seen from almost every angle throughout the house.

A dramatic staircase looks as if it is floating from the outside, with wood steps leading visitors to the different levels.

With two children and a love of entertaining, the homeowners wanted an open space with comfortable family living areas.
