Are you feeling bored of everything in your house looking like it came out of the same general magazine that everyone buys. Do you have a bunch of extra time on your hands and want to utilize it by revamping your house?

Decorating or redecorating your home can bring about a fresh start to your life and breathe new life into your different rooms. Many people look for decorating inspiration in magazines and online home decor sites but this ends up leaving them with a house that looks like almost every other house around, and can be quite boring and unoriginal.

Being creative is possibly the best way to be original and find something new and unique for your home by making sure it’s one of a kind, or at least not available at every house and home shop. If you are looking for tips that will ensure your home looks unique, then here are a few ingenious ways to decorate your home.

Use posters

Remember back in the day when posters of your favourite band or celebrity crush were plastered all over your bedroom walls so that you could google over them all day and night? These are not necessarily the types of posters I’m talking about when I say you should use them for decorating your house, but hey if that’s your things then go for it.

Posters come in a massive variety of colours, themes, and sizes, and the best part of all is that they are so much cheaper than buying original artwork or paintings. They are easy to come across and then also super easy to put up. Depending on your preferences you could have posters of art work, all the way to posters of trains or cars if that is more your home style. Art Frill offers a wide range of posters to suit your preferences, they’re who I used to decorate my living room wall space.

If posters aren’t your thing thought, you could try making some of your own original artwork which will also be so much cheaper than buying from an artist. It might not looks as good but at least you will know that it’s unique.

Paint the front door

Get rid of that old and outdated screen door and give your front door a moment to shine. The first thing a person sees when walking into someone’s house is their front door. The front door can set the entire tone of the house and quickly show ones personality.

Painting your door is a good way to be unique while still being trendy. Red is a colour that is seen as lucky in a lot of cultures and good be a good way to set the vibe for your house.

Change your cupboard door handles

Have you ever noticed how boring the handles on most store bought dressers and cupboards are? They are all so simple and plain. A way to spice up your home decorating is by specially choosing handles for each piece of furniture so that it suits the tone and aesthetic of the room and of your family. For example, in a baby’s nursery, if your child likes animals, you could choose to replace the handles with little duck or pig ones.

Use furniture for other purposes

Repurposing furniture has become quite popular in recent years with people trying to save any penny they can but have you ever heard of repurposing a piece of furniture from one thing into something completely different. If you have a chest of drawers just lying around, try turning it into a book case, or turn and old and tired bookcase into a bar. The possibilities are endless.

A headboard of your own

Looking for a headboard can be a tedious task because they never seem to be exactly what you’re looking for and they always end up being insanely expensive and probably not worth the price you pay for them. Essentially, a head board can be make out of any material, from wood, to foam, to fabric around a frame. It’s so much easier to get what you want by making it yourself and a head board is relatively simple to get done. Not to mention, you can use your old furniture and upcycle the old wood from it into a masterpiece of a head board at a fraction of the cost of a store bought one.
