Eco friendly storage containers

There are so many uses for Xanita X-Board - an eco friendly alternative to conventional board products. View the November issue of  Home-Dzine Online to see how you can make an easy-to-assemble bed base, or buy the latest issue of The Home Handyman magazine for instructions on how to make our dollhouse - the perfect gift for any little girl.

HERE'S HOW:

1. Use the diagram to draw the outline onto your X-Board with a pencil. Make sure that your measurements are accurate as any incorrect measurements will result in a box that does not fit together nicely.

2. As per the diagram, cut through on the red lines and only score through one side along the dashed lines.

3. The lines that have been scored can now be folded over to make the shape of the container.

4. Fold over the flaps at each end of the base (see image right) and glue these down with the glue gun. Lift up the sides of the base and glue the flaps to the front and back.

5. Use the glue gun to attach the edging strips around the edge of the lid. If you have a Dremel Glue Gun you have the choice of 2 heat settings - Low or High - set to high for attaching the edging strip as it takes longer for the glue to set and you can ensure that the strip fits flush. You don't necessarily have to add the edging strip, it just finishes the box of nicely.

Optional:
If you want to add more finishing to your eco storage box, you can easily paint in any colour, cover it with wrapping paper using Bostik Adhesive Spray, or even apply fabric to the outside of the box that matches your existing bedroom decor.
