YOU WILL NEED:

1/2 metre fabric per seat cushion
1/2 metre lining per seat cushion
Fabric pen or chalk
Scissors
Tape measure
Staple gun and staples
Cordless drill/driver

HERE'S HOW:

Select chairs and fabric. Remove seat cushion from chair frame and original fabric from cushion.

Tip: When selecting the new fabric, choose one that coordinates with the decor of your dining room.

1. Place seat frame with cushion side face down on lining. Trace 5cm out from edge of cushion around entire frame using fabric pen or chalk. Cut along this line with your scissors.

2. Attach lining to frame using staple gun. Begin by stapling lining to frame at centre point of each side, and then at each corner, pulling fabric tautly around frame. After sides and corners are stapled in place, continue securing lining to frame by working from centre point to corner. Trim excess fabric along outer edge of staple line.

3. Place lined seat frame face down on fabric. Trace 5cm out from edge of cushion around entire frame using fabric pen or chalk. Cut along line.

4. Attach fabric to frame using staple gun. Begin by stapling fabric to frame at the centre point of each side, and then at each corner, pulling fabric tautly around frame. Trim excess fabric if required.

Tip: If using a patterned fabric, appropriately position the design on the seat cushion.

5. After sides and corners are stapled in place, continue securing fabric to frame by working from centre point to each corner. Pull fabric snuggly around curved corners to eliminate tucks on top side of cushion. After seat cushion is covered with new fabric, reattach to chair frame using original hardware.
