ModPodge doily votive holder

Making a votive holder or candle holder from paper or lace doilies is super quick and easy. These delicate-looking votive holders are actually quite sturdy and would look wonderful on a special table, or for a wedding celebration.

YOU WILL NEED:

Balloon
Cotton or paper doilies
ModPodge or clear acrylic sealer
Paintbrush
String

HERE'S HOW:

1. Cover the balloon with vaseline to prevent the ModPodge from sticking to it.

2. Cover the doilies, or soak them, in ModPodge and then quickly place them onto the balloon.

3. The doilies should overlap a bit and this make the candle holder more sturdy.

4. Hang the balloon up to dry by attaching a piece of string. My doilies are quite thick, and needed at least a day to dry.

5. Once dry, pop the balloon. At this stage I like to add another couple of coats of ModPodge to the inside and outside of the candle holder. Let each coat dry properly before applying another coat.
