Quick Project: Add privacy to a small window

Very often it can be difficult to dress a small window with shades or blinds. Here's an easy way to add privacy to a small window, without blocking out natural light.

YOU WILL NEED:

Contact self-adhesive paper
Pattern or design
Craft knife
Cutting mat or board
Masking tape

HERE'S HOW:

1. Measure up the size of the glass to be covered and cut a sheet of clear contact self-adhesive to the same size.

DIY Tip:
Use a cutting mat or piece of hardboard to cut on, so as not to damage work surfaces.

2. Place the design or pattern face up on the cutting mat or board. Place the self-adhesive vinyl over the design. Use masking tape to fasten the edges to the board to prevent either the design or vinyl from moving once you start cutting.

3. Use the craft knife to cut around the edges of the pieces to be removed. Remove sections as you work to make it easier to see what you are doing.

This was a small intricate design. It took me about five hours to cut away the pattern. I did it over a few days. Using a larger and more simple design would make it quicker and easier.
